Your Words are Powerful Beyond Measure

Your words are powerful beyond measure, whether written or spoken. They are synonymous with life and death. So, be deliberate in uttering words that breathe life. Your words are like seeds, they produce fruits that do not fall far from the tree.
Mr. Wentworth, a 17th century Australian Poet put it this way:

Words are deeds. The words we hear
May revolutionize or rear
A mighty state. The words we read
May be a spiritual deed
Excelling any fleshly one,
As much as the celestial sun
Transcends a bonfire, made to throw
A light upon some raree-show.
A simple proverb tagged with rhyme
May colour half the course of time;
The pregnant saying of a sage
May influence every coming age;
A song in its effects may be
More glorious than Thermopylae,
And many a lay that schoolboys scan
A nobler feat than Inkerman.
                 - William Charles Wentworth

I came across this video where words caused an almost immediate change in one man’s life. When you watch it, you will understand. Your words are powerful beyond measure.

GET UP! No legs, No arms, No problem.

Nick Vujicic was born in Melbourne, Australia with the rare Tetra-amelia disorder: limbless, missing both arms at shoulder level, and having one small foot with two toes protruding from his left thigh. Despite the absence of limbs, he is doing surfing and swimming, and playing golf and soccer. Nick graduated from college at the age of 21 with a double major in Accounting and Financial Planning. He began his travels as a motivational speaker, focusing on the topics that today’s teenagers face. Below I have complied some of his word about his life and his stories for more you can visit his site which have linked at the end. “God loves it when we have no plan B. He does His greatest work when we are totally reliant on Him. He comes to our rescue when we are walking a tightrope, teetering on the brink of disaster, without a safety net below. Why? Because walking a tightrope without a safety net requires faith. And when we trust Him to do something audacious, totally ridiculous, completely beyond our capability, only God can get the credit...” “I can’t imagine that any previous generation has been lied to as much as ours. We’re continually bombarded with seductive messages. Replacethe distorted self-image with God’s true image in the minds and hearts of young people everywhere! Watch this incredible video that encourages not only teens but everyone to seek their validation from the only One qualified to give it!”
“You are the legs that carry me around the world. You are the arms that hug the people I wish I could reach. I am so happy to have the opportunity to give my love to the world through you.”

“Do you know that when kids are bullied, they often turn into bullies themselves? Tragic, but true. That’s what happened with Peter. He was an exceptional student, at the top of his class. But then kids stared bullying him mercilessly. Their cruelty began to destroy Peter from the inside. He wrote, “I started to believe that I’m just not good enough… that others don’t like me…. And I started hating other people.” Peter withdrew into utter loneliness and despair. He got so low that he even considered suicide.” Personally I have struggled with depression and I still do but reading and watching Nick’s videos I am really touched, I do really hope this great person also touches your heart and you should really visit his site at lifewithoutlimbs.org.

The New Dot Com Boom

It was an interesting period of time to live in – the few years before Y2K. Remember that? Just like this Hurricane Sandy and the media coverage. The difference is that the countdown to the year 2000 was global.
In 1999, people started to get agitated about the future; especially the last half. Some thought that everything will come to a stand-still. Commerce will become primitive because all satellite dependent systems will stop. The media did their part to keep most people in a state of panic. The financially savvy ones made untold fortunes from that episode.
Y2K coincided with the dotcom bubble. That was the period between 1996 and 2000, when internet ventures ran wild. Here are the main players of that era
Victims:
  • Pets.com
  • eToys.com
  • MVP.com
  • GovWorks.com
  • Kozmo.com
These companies shined like comets and fizzled by the dawn of 2001. On the other hand, there are companies that started about the same time, and endured the test of time. Those who got in on that action are doing financially well today. Here are the main victors:
  • Amazon.com
  • eBbay.com
  • Priceline.com
  • Coupons.com
  • Shutterfly.com
The search engine giant google.com joined the fray in 2004 when it made its first public offering. Today there is a new wave brewing. And you can get in on the action.
Imagine almost any domain you can think of. Now try to make it “.com”…like Somename.com. Chances are that it is taken. The dot com field is saturated. That leads to a new frontier – an international domain name field that is virtually untouched. Don’t get me wrong, people have started looking in this direction, but compared to the dot com field, this is close to virgin.
Web Site or ws is the new internet boom. As dot com fills up to the brim, businesses, corporations, and individuals who want their own unique brands are looking to “.ws”. That’s right. If you took that same name Somename.com, and make it Somename.ws, you may find out that it is still available. Unless someone reading this went to grab it.
The new wave of domain name explosion is underway now. Where would you be when it is all over? What stories would you tell? There is a company that specializes in selling ws domains. What is more fantastic about this kind of domain name is that it can be in almost any character. So those who type in Amharic or Punjabi could register domains in their own language. This means that the possibilities of .ws domains are exponentially greater than .com domains which are limited to roman letters alone.
The train of dot ws domains has already started on its journey around the world. Now it has stopped at your city. Seize the day now. Find how you can join this train here. Give yourself the chance to tell tales of how you too made something from this new wave. Y2K, Mayan Calendar and 2012 will be among the stories you tell with a knowing wink.

Talent and/or Persistent Effort

There is no doubt that certain individuals are talented in various fields of endeavor in life. These individuals, if they continually put in the effort to practice, become excellent in their fields. Samuel Goldwyn left his native Poland as a youngster without any cash. In England, he remained with relatives while working on his dream to live in the United States. In 1898 he had to settle in Canada because he was not accepted into the US. Ultimately, Mr. Goldwyn (who was born Shmuel Gelbfisz) moved to New York and established a film production company with an in-law in 1913. By 1914 the Lasky Feature Play Company had become a major player in the Hollywood film industry. This company became part of the famed Paramount Pictures Corporation. Through persistence and consistence, an unknown man from Poland became one of the most powerful individuals in the American movie making industry. Samuel Goldwyn stated it this way: The harder I work, the luckier I become.

Persistent application of one's self to one endeavor, will yield results that may elude talented individuals. Having the gift to play the piano (for example) is not enough; on must practice consistently in order to become a world-class pianist. Talent may get a person in the door, but to stay in that room, the same person will have to practice and practice, if he/she is to deliver heart-felt music on a continual basis.
Little drops of water, after a long time could break a rock, if these drops keep falling on the same spot ceaselessly. As hard as quartz is, it is no match for one drop after another - over time. Any endeavor in life is the same. The more one practices running, the better he/she becomes; the more one practices making business decisions, the better this person becomes. There are no short-cuts to success. There are not many over-night success stories. What seems like a sudden occurrence, is the result of years upon years of persistent and consistent pursuit of a single goal.

Therefore, if you plan on being among the stars, start flying now. Your talent may be of help, but unyielding, persistent and continual effort in the direction of your desire, will take you much farther than talent alone will

Life Choices - A Perspective from the Departing

By Bronnie Ware

1. I wish I'd had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.

This was the most common regret of all. When people realise that their life is almost over and look back clearly on it, it is easy to see how many dreams have gone unfulfilled. Most people had not honoured even a half of their dreams and had to die knowing that it was due to choices they had made, or not made.

It is very important to try and honour at least some of your dreams along the way. From the moment that you lose your health, it is too late. Health brings a freedom very few realise, until they no longer have it.

 2. I wish I didn't work so hard.

This came from every male patient that I nursed. They missed their children's youth and their partner's companionship. Women also spoke of this regret. But as most were from an older generation, many of the female patients had not been breadwinners. All of the men I nursed deeply regretted spending so much of their lives on the treadmill of a work existence.

By simplifying your lifestyle and making conscious choices along the way, it is possible to not need the income that you think you do. And by creating more space in your life, you become happier and more open to new opportunities, ones more suited to your new lifestyle.

 3. I wish I'd had the courage to express my feelings.

Many people suppressed their feelings in order to keep peace with others. As a result, they settled for a mediocre existence and never became who they were truly capable of becoming. Many developed illnesses relating to the bitterness and resentment they carried as a result.

We cannot control the reactions of others. However, although people may initially react when you change the way you are by speaking honestly, in the end it raises the relationship to a whole new and healthier level. Either that or it releases the unhealthy relationship from your life. Either way, you win.

 4. I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.

Often they would not truly realise the full benefits of old friends until their dying weeks and it was not always possible to track them down. Many had become so caught up in their own lives that they had let golden friendships slip by over the years. There were many deep regrets about not giving friendships the time and effort that they deserved. Everyone misses their friends when they are dying.

It is common for anyone in a busy lifestyle to let friendships slip. But when you are faced with your approaching death, the physical details of life fall away. People do want to get their financial affairs in order if possible. But it is not money or status that holds the true importance for them. They want to get things in order more for the benefit of those they love. Usually though, they are too ill and weary to ever manage this task. It is all comes down to love and relationships in the end. That is all that remains in the final weeks, love and relationships.

 5. I wish that I had let myself be happier.

This is a surprisingly common one. Many did not realise until the end that happiness is a choice. They had stayed stuck in old patterns and habits. The so-called 'comfort' of familiarity overflowed into their emotions, as well as their physical lives. Fear of change had them pretending to others, and to their selves, that they were content. When deep within, they longed to laugh properly and have silliness in their life again.

When you are on your deathbed, what others think of you is a long way from your mind. How wonderful to be able to let go and smile again, long before you are dying.

Life is a choice. It is YOUR life. Choose consciously, choose wisely, choose honestly. Choose happiness.

Sign Language for All

We as humans are wired to automate our behavior. In fact this automatic actions free up our brains so that we can concentrate on daily business that are not predictable. For instance people do not usually think about the act of speech, of eating, walking, or driving to a place of work (sometimes). By doing these deeds over and over again, we have carved a well worn path in our synapses. These paths are so commonly used that little or no thinking is required. As such, these actions become automatic or second nature.

When we are confronted with an anomaly, things change. Something as simple as talking becomes as activity to think about, if we happen to be in a situation where new vocabularies are required. A given environment may require a certain decorum - our speaking habit would probably be disrupted, as a result. This is the case when you, unknowingly, speak to a co-worker or neighbour, only to find out that the person is deaf.

Unless you have spent some time learning and practicing sign-language, you will most likely feel lost. In case you do understand sign language, there are many different versions of it to choose from (depending on your region). Furthermore, there are formal ways of signing, there are slang words, there are age related communication. Deaf culture is an entire world in itself. Chances are you probably know little about all this - unless you are part of the Deaf Community.

Thanks to innovative minds at the University of Houston in Texas; there is a new invention to help this situation. The device called MyVoice converts voice to sign-language, and sign-language into voice. This device, which fits into a human hand uses audio and video technology to relate communication between the deaf and the non-deaf.

MyVoice is wired to detect, recognize and translate signs into their corresponding voice equivalent. The same is done with voice; and the signed meaning is played on the monitor of MyVoice. This invention is still in the early stages. Application for a wider array of uses is being developed at the moment. For those of us who believe in bridging the communication gap, here is a golden opportunity to contribute to such an innovative project.

A Better Way

From the moment a child is old enough to go to school, the child is enrolled in elementary school. That journey continues until the individual becomes an adult. At that point the "adult" may now attend some university or start working. Now, this pipe-line seems understandable enough. However, a thinking person would start to wonder: Is this what life is about? Or: Is this all I got my education for? To work at some establishment for 20 years, and retire?
There has to be a better way. For me, the model of working at some place for that long is absurd. The things I want to do will have to wait till weekends or holidays before they can be done. Things like visiting family, fishing, helping to build habitats for those in need... etc. Living a weekend life for 20 years does not suit me.
So, I started looking. Each day I would think of different ways to improve my living.
For those who have thought about extra income, you may have seen different concepts on television and online. Many of these plans have one thing in common: They demand a lot of your time and money. Usually, work takes up much of the day time. Money is usually spoken for, before you are paid. So, these are high value commodities that most of us cannot afford.

So much for "there has to be a better way". It looks as if some of us are destined to be ordinary people, living an ordinary life. Maybe watching the rich and famous is all that can be done. Remember that show - The Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous? Robin Leach's voice is still stuck in my head. If you don't know about it, that is alright. Just watch Reality TV or Cribs. (Is that still on?). Anyway, there has to be a better way than going to an employment place that you don't like; and doing it for the better part of your adult life.

According to Robert Kiyosaki, there is a quadrant that shows how this working life plays out. On the left side are employers and the self employed. On the right are the business owners and the investors. To be on the "right" side is the path to the better way of living that has been my quest. Now I have found this path, and I am on it. Ask me how, and I'll gladly show you.

Twittter Down!

You are all well aware that twitter went down for some hours on the 22 of June 2012. Twitter was out of operation for over an hour - the longest break in service for the social media group. According to Mazen Rawashdeh, VP of Twitter engineering, it was a cascading bug. On the other hand, a hacking group know as UGNazi claimed responsibility for the glitch that lasted about 70 minutes.
Regardless of what the truth may be, it is with pleasure that those with twitter accounts were able to return from the tweetpocalypse within 2 hours. Life, it seems, could not go on without twitter.

While the social-media addicts, accounts holders and businesses were in despair over the recent tweetpocalypse (twittpocalypse), a select few were laughing there way to the bank - just like the dancing banana above. There is no better satisfaction than to know that neutral situations translate into profit for you. In these pages, you will find links that may place you squarely in the driver's seat when it comes to updating your facebook, twitter, or any other social-media account you may have.
